西岸寺（さいがんじ）は、熊本市中央区にある歴史ある浄土宗のお寺で、江戸時代初期には武将・島左近（しま-さこん）が住職だったという伝説が残っています。
Saiganji Temple is a historic Jodo Buddhist temple located in Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City, and legend has it that the warlord Shima-Sakon was the abbot in the early Edo period.
森鴎外（もり-おうがい）の作品「阿部一族」にも関連し、当時の武士たちが切腹した場所として知られています。
It is also related to Mori-Ogai’s work “Abe Clan” and is known as the place where samurai of the time committed seppuku.
戦火を免れたため、本堂には西南戦争時の銃痕が今も残り、熊本の歴史を感じられるスポットです。口コミ評価はおおむね良好で、歴史や文化に興味のある訪問者から好評を得ています。
Because it was spared from the war, the main hall still has bullet holes from the Civil War, and it is a spot where you can feel the history of Kumamoto. Word of mouth ratings are generally positive, and it has been well received by visitors interested in history and culture.
