構造と役割
- 櫓門（やぐら-もん）は熊本城の防御上の要となる門で、複数の層からなる櫓（やぐら）を兼ね備えていました。
- 敵の侵入を防ぐために、門周辺には石垣や堀が配置され、複雑な構造になっていました。

The turret gate was the key defensive gate of Kumamoto Castle, and it also had a multi-tiered turret (yagura).
In order to prevent enemy invasion, stonewalls and moats were placed around the gate, creating a complex structure.
Kita-Ote Yagura Gate Ruins was an important place to control access to and from the north side of Kumamoto Castle, and played a major role in both defense and management.
現在の状況
- 櫓門（やぐら-もん）そのものは失われていますが、門の基礎や石垣の跡が現存しており、当時の城の規模や構造を偲ぶことができます。
- 熊本地震（2016年）の影響で多くの石垣が崩れましたが、復旧工事が進行中で、北大手櫓門跡もその一環として保存と修復が図られています。
Although the yagura-mon itself has been lost, the foundations of the gate and the remains of the stonewalls are still extant, and provide a reminder of the scale and structure of the castle at that time.
Many of the stonewalls collapsed due to the Kumamoto Earthquake (2016), but restoration work is underway, and the Kita-Ote Yagura Gate Ruins are being preserved and restored as part of the project.
