豊臣秀頼は、豊臣秀吉の三男で、淀殿の第二子です。秀吉の死後、豊臣家の後継者となりましたが、関ヶ原の戦いや大坂の陣で徳川家康に敗れ、23歳で自害しました。身長は190cmほどあったと言われ、当時では非常に高かったです。
Toyotomi Hideyori was the third son of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the second son of Yodo-dono. After Hideyoshi’s death, he became the successor to the Toyotomi clan, but was defeated by Tokugawa Ieyasu at the Battle of Sekigahara and the Siege of Osaka, and committed suicide at the age of 23. It is said that he was about 190 cm tall, which was very tall at the time.
大坂の陣は、徳川家康と豊臣家との間で行われた合戦です。冬の陣と夏の陣の二回に分かれています。冬の陣では、豊臣家が大坂城を守り抜きましたが、夏の陣では、徳川家康が大軍を率いて大坂城を攻め落としました。豊臣秀頼は、淀殿や側室や子供とともに自害しました。

玉造稲荷神社の「豊臣秀頼像」は、豊臣秀頼の生前に描かれた肖像画を元に、時代考証を重ねて製作された銅像です。大阪城の鎮守神である玉造稲荷神社に建てられており、秀頼は本殿越しに大阪城を見つめています。この銅像は、秀頼の一般的なイメージとは異なり、凛々しく勇ましい姿を表現しています。
The “Statue of Toyotomi Hideyori” at Tamatsukuri Inari Shrine is a bronze statue that was created based on a portrait of Toyotomi Hideyori drawn during his lifetime. Built at Tamatsukuri Inari Shrine, the guardian deity of Osaka Castle, Hideyori gazes at Osaka Castle over the main shrine. Unlike the general image of Hideyori, this bronze statue expresses a dignified and courageous figure.
