It was designated as a National Special Historic Site in 1991 as an archaeological site of extremely high academic value that shows the process of the development of a small village in the Yayoi period into a large bunker settlement of more than 40 hectares, which is the center of Japan country.

調査報告書（吉野ヶ里遺跡）
吉野ヶ里遺跡について、探偵1日料金を３時間調査39.800円（当社料金）と仮定して調査してきましたのでご報告します。吉野ヶ里遺跡は、最近では、未調査の「謎のエリア」で出土した箱式石棺墓からは副葬品こそ見つからなかったが、弥生時代後期の有力者の墓とみられる石棺墓が見つかりました。
We would like to report that we have investigated the Yoshinogari ruins assuming that the detective one-day fee is 39.800 yen (our fee) for a 3-hour investigation. At the Yoshinogari site, no grave goods were found in the box-type sarcophagus tombs excavated in an unexplored “mysterious area” recently, but a sarcophagus tomb that seems to be the grave of an influential person from the late Yayoi period was found.
また、吉野ヶ里遺跡から見つかった石棺墓には人骨や副葬品は見つかりませんでしたが、県は「邪馬台国時代の有力者の墓」と結論付けています。
In addition, no human bones or grave goods were found in the sarcophagus tomb found at the Yoshinogari site, but the prefecture concluded that it was “the tomb of an influential person of the Evil Horse Taikoku period”.

また、吉野ヶ里歴史公園では、弥生時代の人々の生活を体感できる「環壕集落ゾーン」や、遊具で遊んだりバーベキューも楽しめるエリアなどがあります。

- JR九州 長崎本線「吉野ケ里公園駅」より東口（メインゲート）まで約700m
- JR九州長崎本線「神埼駅」より西口まで約600m
- 西鉄天神大牟田線「西鉄久留米駅」、JR鹿児島本線「久留米駅」よりバス（40系統）、田手停留所下車。 （西鉄バス 神埼線）
- 福岡空港より吉野ヶ里歴史公園経由佐賀第二合同庁舎行き高速バス（1日1往復のみ）乗車、吉野ヶ里歴史公園前下車。 （西鉄バス 福岡空港線）
