上本町は、大阪市天王寺区の中では天王寺や阿倍野に次いで人口密度の高いエリアである。そのため、飲食店やショップ、テナントなどが集中するエリアでもあります。３キロほど北上すれば大阪城に行けるとあって、近鉄大阪上本町駅からのハイキングコースにもなっています。
