栗原町について、町内を走る国道184号を南方向へ約2㎞、北方向へ約2㎞ほど歩いて調査しました。国道沿いの調査結果をご報告します。国道184号は、広島県尾道市から島根県出雲市へとつながっています。新尾道駅周辺の舗道はよく整備されていてウオーキングにも適していました。
About Kurihara Town, we walked about 2 km south and about 2 km north on Route 184, which runs through the town. We will report the survey results along the national highway. National Route 184 connects Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture to Izumo City in Shimane Prefecture. The pavement around Shin-Onomichi Station was well maintained and suitable for walking.
調査した区間は交互通行の一般国道である。直線で見通しの良い国道であって交通量はあまり多くなくクルマはスイスイと流れていました。制限速度50キロの標識を確認し、通り過ぎるクルマの速度を体感で計ってみたところ時速50～60キロといったところであった。
The surveyed section is a general national highway with alternating traffic. It was a straight national road with good visibility, and the traffic was not so heavy, and the cars were flowing smoothly. I checked the 50 km/h speed limit sign and measured the speed of the passing cars, and it was about 50 to 60 km/h.

コチラは、栗原町の南側エリアになります。国道184号に沿って歩いて調査してきました。レンタカー店や銀行、クリニック、歯科医院、ショッピングセンター、パチンコ店、飲食店、ファミレス、ディラー、ガソリンスタンドなどが国道の両サイドにありました。

北側エリア
North area
コチラは、栗原町の北側エリアになります。徐々に上り坂になっていきます。しかし、ウオーキングは十分可能です。歯科医院、鍼灸院、美容室、学習塾、喫茶店、餃子店、ディラー、ガソリンスタンドなどが国道の両サイドにありました。
This is the northern area of Kurihara Town. It will gradually go uphill. However, walking is possible enough. There were dental clinics, acupuncture and moxibustion clinics, beauty salons, cram schools, coffee shops, dumpling shops, dealers, gas stations, etc. on both sides of the national highway.

調査報告書（栗原町）
栗原町の調査報告をします。栗原町の中心を走る国道184号が町内の南北を縦断していた。その中間点には新尾道駅があります。ということで、栗原町は南北に長いので新尾道駅を境にして、南側エリアと北側エリアに分けて調査することにしました。
I will do a survey report on Kurihara Town. National Route 184, which runs through the center of Kurihara Town, runs through the town from north to south. There is Shin-Onomichi Station at the halfway point. Since Kurihara-cho is long from north to south, I decided to divide the survey into the south area and the north area with Shin-Onomichi station as the boundary.
新尾道駅から調査をスタートして、南側エリアを２㎞ほど歩きました。途中には銀行やパチンコ店、買取屋さん、ショッピングセンター、ファミリーレストラン、飲食店、ディラー、ガソリンスタンドなどがありました。平坦な道だったので歩きやすかったです。
I started my research from Shin-Onomichi station and walked about 2km in the south area. Along the way, there were banks, pachinko parlors, purchasers, shopping centers, family restaurants, restaurants, dealers, and gas stations. It was a flat road, so it was easy to walk.
北側エリアについても２㎞ほど歩きました。途中には鍼灸院や美容室、喫茶店、スポーツ用品店、ディラー、ガソリンスタンドなどがありました。国道は徐々に上り坂になっていきました。しかし、急な上り坂ではなかったので十分歩いて調査することが出来ました。

The highway gradually went uphill. However, it was not a steep uphill, so I was able to walk enough to investigate.
田園風景が国道の両サイドにあって、その向こうには高い山々が続いているのが自然と目に入って来ました。ところが、舗道が徐々に狭くなってきたのです。北へと進むうちに舗道がところどころ無くなりクルマの走行に気をとられるようになってしまった。その先は山間部への入り口みたいで、先を見ると険しい登り坂になっていました。
It naturally caught my eye that there were rural landscapes on both sides of the national highway, and that high mountains stretched beyond them. However, the pavement gradually became narrower. As I went north, the pavement disappeared in places and I became distracted by the running of the car. It looked like the entrance to a mountainous area, and when I looked ahead, it was a steep uphill.
なお、新幹線でお越しの方でレンタカーの利用をお考えならば、新尾道駅の南側にレンタカー店が３軒ありました。ですので、当日の貸し出しはどうかはわかりませんが聞いてみられたら借してもらえそうです。不安に思われる方は、事前に予約されることをおすすめします。ありがとうございました。
If you are coming by Shinkansen and are thinking of renting a car, there are 3 car rental shops on the south side of Shin-Onomichi Station. So, I don’t know if it’s possible to rent it on the day, but if you ask me, I’m sure you’ll be able to borrow it. If you feel uneasy, we recommend that you make a reservation in advance.
