安く抑えたいと思えば、大阪駅発（JR神戸線新快速）→ 西明石、西明石発（新幹線こだま）→ 新尾道をおすすめします。乗車券4.510円＋特急券（自由席）2.530円で、片道の合計は7.040円である。こちらの方が840円お得になります。所要時間は2時間46分です。

If you want to keep the cost low, we recommend the Osaka Station (JR Kobe Line Special Rapid) → Nishi-Akashi, Nishi-Akashi (Shinkansen Kodama) → Shin-Onomichi. The basic fare is 4.510 yen + the limited express ticket (unreserved seat) is 2.530 yen, so the one-way total is 7.040 yen. This will save you 840 yen. Travel time is 2 hours 46 minutes.

到着ホームから改札を通り、駅構内を調査します。改札への階段は福岡方面寄りにありました。新幹線の最後部の車両に乗車したため16両分は歩かないといけませんでした。大阪方面から新尾道に新幹線で来られる場合は前方（博多方面）の車両に乗車しましょう。

改札は一か所だけです。改札を出ると、北口と南口があります。タクシーをご利用の場合は南口の方へ出てください。

There is only one ticket gate. After exiting the ticket gate, there are the north exit and the south exit. If you take a taxi, please go to the south exit.

観光案内コーナーというのがありました。女性職員の方が親切にいろいろと教えてくださいました。観光の名所とかグルメ、当日宿泊できる宿、レンタカーなども教えてもらえます。

新幹線ホームでは、安全保護柵が設置されていませんので、通過する新幹線にはご注意ください。それこそ、ものすごいスピードで通過します。それもなんのアナウンスもなく、突然、猛スピードで新幹線はやって来ます。黄色の点字ブロックまで下がっていても、風圧で吹き飛ばされそうになります。

There are no safety fences installed on Shinkansen platforms, so please be careful of passing Shinkansen trains. That’s how fast it passes. Without any announcement, the Shinkansen suddenly came at a tremendous speed. Even if you go down to the yellow braille block, the wind pressure will blow you away.

年配の方はホーム中ごろを歩くようにしましょう。また、小さなお子様連れのお母さんは、子供さんの手をつないであげるようにしましょう。200キロ以上の猛スピードで通過しますのでビックリされると思います。十分ご注意いただきたいです。

Elderly people should walk in the middle of the platform. Also, mothers with small children should hold their hands. I think that you will be surprised because it will pass at a tremendous speed of over 200 km. Please be very careful.

新尾道駅は新幹線専用のステーションです。在来線とか私鉄とかは乗り合いしてませんので、ざわざわしてなくて落ち着いた気分にしてくれます。乗降客も新幹線こだまで来られた方か、こだまを利用される方だけです。わりとシンプルな感じです。ありがとうございました。

Shin-Onomichi Station is a Shinkansen-only station. We don’t ride on conventional lines or private railways, so it’s not noisy and makes you feel calm. Passengers boarding and alighting are limited to those who have come by Shinkansen Kodama or those who use Kodama. It feels really simple.
