堀川戎神社の公式サイトによると、十日戎（とおかえびす）と呼ばれるこのお祭りは、商売繁盛を願う人々が多く訪れるため、大変混雑することがあるそうです。

「えびす講」とは、堀川戎神社で毎年1月9日から11日にかけて行われるお祭りです。商売繁盛を願う人々が多く訪れ、賑わいます。また、地域によっては10月20日や11月20日にも開催される場合があります。

堀川戎神社の由緒では、欽明天皇の御代〈539～571〉止美連吉雄（とみのむらじよしお）が蛭子大神の神託を受け堀江で玉を得て、これを御霊代（みたましろ）に蛭子大神を富島に祀り、瓊見社（たまみのやしろ）・止美社（とみのやしろ）と名付けたのが創祀と伝えられています。

その後、社殿が何度か移転し、現在地に移されたのは、江戸時代中期のことです。そして、堀川戎神社には、榎木神社という末社があります。榎木神社は、南森町の阪神高速守口線高架下にある堀川戎神社の境内に鎮座する神社です。
