御辰稲荷神社は、1705年（宝永2年）に東山天皇の即室である崇賢門院が白い狐の霊夢を見たことから、東山天皇の勅許を受けて創建されたと伝えられています。

It is said that Otatsu Inari Shrine was founded in 1705 (Hoei 2) with the royal charter of Emperor Higashiyama because Emperor Higashiyama’s immediate room, Sokenmon-in, had a dream of a white fox.

祀られている社は禁裏御所の辰（東南）の方角にある森であり、そのため「御辰稲荷」と呼ばれています。また、「辰」の字は達成の「達」につながるとされ、芸事の神様として信仰されています。昔から芸事をする人々の参拝が絶えない場所として知られています。

The shrine is enshrined in a forest in the direction of the Dragon (southeast) of the Forbidden Palace, which is why it is called “Otatsu Inari”. In addition, the character “Dragon” is said to lead to the “attainment” of achievement and is believed to be the god of performing arts. It has been known as a place where people who perform arts have been constantly worshipping.

熊野神社から東に歩くと、御辰稲荷神社がありました。「辰」の字が達成の「達」につながるとされ、芸事の神様として信仰されています。境内には福石大明神が祀られ、願い事が叶う真黒石が人気のようです。

御辰稲荷神社は、舞妓さんや芸妓さんにとって商売繁盛や芸能上達のご利益があるとされています。境内には良縁結びや願いが叶う秘石もあり、穴場のパワースポットとしても知られています。

Otatsu Inari Shrine is said to be beneficial for maiko and geiko for prosperous business and improvement in the performing arts. There are also secret stones in the precincts where good marriages and wishes come true, and it is also known as a hidden power spot.

ここは御所の南東の方角、つまり辰の方角だった事から、御辰稲荷と呼ばれるようになりました。琴を奏でるのが上手な御辰狐がいたそうです。京都に伝わる狐は、この御辰狐以外にも相国寺に伝わる、宗旦狐が有名で、この二つを合わせて「京の風流狐」と呼ばれています。

This place was in the southeast direction of Gosho, that is, in the direction of the dragon, so it came to be called Otatsu Inari. It is said that there was a fox who was good at playing the koto. In addition to this Otatsu fox, the famous fox that is transmitted to Sōkokuji Temple is the Sodan fox, and the two together are called “Kyoto’s Furyu Fox”.

平安神宮とは丸太町通を挟んで向い側に狭い境内となっていました。歩道側の看板には「芸能上達　達成叶の守護」と紹介されていました。狭い境内だけあって社殿の配置もちょっと窮屈感がありました。

It was a narrow precinct on the other side of the street from Heian Jingu. The sign on the sidewalk side was introduced as “Guardian of Performing Arts Progress Achievement Fulfillment”. Because of the narrow precincts, the layout of the shrine was a little cramped.

小さい神社ですが、赤い鳥居、狐がいっぱいで印象的です。芸能上達、けがせぬ、商売繁盛のご利益があります。また、福石大明神もあります。こちらは幸福と願いがかなうとのこと。パワーが感じられました。

It is a small shrine, but it is impressive with a red torii gate and a lot of foxes. There are benefits of improving the performing arts, not getting hurt, and prospering business. In addition, there is also Fukuishi Daimyojin. It is said that happiness and wishes will come true here. The power was felt.
