この坂は、清水寺へ向かう道で、観光バスや観光客が行き交う有名な観光地です。夏には「京都五条坂陶器まつり」が開催され、400店以上の陶器商が出店して賑わいます。
On the road to Kiyomizu Temple, it is a famous tourist destination where sightseeing buses and tourists come and go. In the summer, the “Kyoto Gojozaka Pottery Festival” is held, and more than 400 pottery shops open and are crowded.
観光シーズンには混雑することもあるため、注意が必要です。

五条通りと東大路通りが交わるところから清水寺へと続く坂道です。それほどきつい坂道ではありませんが、清水寺までの距離はけっこうあります。車も通りますし、風情がある・・といった感じはそれほどしません。
It is a slope that leads from the intersection of Gojo Street and Higashioji Street to Kiyomizu Temple. It’s not a very steep slope, but it’s quite a distance to Kiyomizu-dera. Cars pass by, and it doesn’t feel so tasteful.
京都駅から市バスを使い清水寺最寄りのバス停下りると、そこは、五条坂。レンタル着物店が最初に現れここで衣装替えする人も多いそうです。更には清水焼のお店が建ち並ぶ。基本的に坂上に観光バス駐車場があるためゆったり坂を歩けないのが難点である。買い物は松原通の方が賑わっている感じです。
If you take the city bus from Kyoto Station and get off the bus stop near Kiyomizu-dera Temple, you will find Gojozaka. Rental kimono stores appear first, and many people change their costumes here. In addition, there are shops of Shimizu ware. Basically, there is a tourist bus parking lot on the slope, so it is difficult to walk on the slope leisurely. Shopping seems to be more crowded in Matsubara-dori.
五条坂の途中で陶器坂と清水寺坂の分岐があるので陶器坂から登って、面白い陶器坂を見学後、清水寺を見て賑やかな清水坂を下るのがおすすめです。
There is a fork between Pottery Slope and Kiyomizudera Slope in the middle of Gojozaka, so it is recommended to climb from Pottery Slope, see the interesting Pottery Slope, and then go down the lively Kiyomizu Slope to see Kiyomizu Temple.
