調査ポイント（船越町）
船越町は、谷町筋（東側）の１丁目から松屋町筋（西側）の２丁目までとなります。東西に細長いエリアであって、その限られた中で多くのビルやマンション、会社などがひしめき合っている町なのです。とはいっても、キレイに区画されているので見た目では都会のように見えます。
Funakoshi-cho extends from 1-chome on Tanimachi-suji (east side) to 2-chome on Matsuyamachi-suji (west side). It is a long and narrow area running east and west, and within this limited area, many buildings, condominiums, and companies are crowded together. However, it looks like a city because it is neatly partitioned.

調査報告書（船越町）
昔はどうだったかは知りませんが、現在はどうなっているのかを見ていきたいと思いながら調査をしてまいりました。現在はというと、都市計画からか知りませんが、キレイに区画されていて、ビルやマンション、会社が建ち並んでおります。船が行き来するような川は存在いたしません。
I don’t know how it was in the past, but I wanted to see what it was like now, and I’ve been investigating. Today, I don’t know if it’s because of city planning, but it’s been neatly partitioned, and buildings, condominiums, and companies are lined up. There are no rivers on which ships can come and go.
ただ、小高い山になっていて、船越町1丁目と船越町2丁目の分かれ目くらいから下りの傾斜があり、2丁目の先端部分はかなり下に見えます。ということは、そこそこな傾斜があるということに。一旦下れば、上がって来るのに苦労します。若い人なら平気だろうが、年配の人には酷な坂道なのです。
However, it is a small mountain, and there is a downward slope from the dividing line between Funakoshi-cho 1-chome and Funakoshi-cho 2-chome, and the tip of 2-chome can be seen quite below. That means there is a moderate slope. Once you go down, you will have a hard time getting back up. It would be fine for young people, but it’s a terrible slope for older people.
そんなことを考えながら歩いていると、自転車に乗られた年配の女性がすいすいと坂道を上がって行かれた。よく見ると、電動式の自転車だとわかりました。なるほどなぁ、いまは文明の利器というモノがあるわけだ。よく見たら、歩いて上がっているのは、わたしくらいだけであった。往々にして、そんなものである。ありがとうございました。
As I was walking while thinking about such things, an elderly woman riding a bicycle went up the slope with ease. Upon closer inspection, I realized that it was an electric bicycle. I see, now there is a thing called convenience of civilization. When I looked closer, I was the only one walking up. That is often the case.
