数寄屋橋は、1629年（寛永6年）に江戸城外濠に架けられた橋であり、その周辺の地名です。
Sukiyabashi is a bridge built in 1629 (Kanei 6) over the outer moat of Edo Castle, and is the name of the place around it.
この橋は、武士と町人の居住地を隔てる境界線として存在し、城門が置かれていました。
This bridge existed as a dividing line separating the samurai from the townspeople’s settlements, and the castle gate was placed.
明治維新後に城門は撤去され、1929年（昭和4年）に石造りの二連アーチ橋に架け替えられました。
After the Meiji Restoration, the castle gate was removed and replaced with a stone double-arch bridge in 1929 (Showa 4).
晴海通りが外堀を渡る位置にあり、北側に日劇と朝日新聞社、南側に銀座東芝ビルと泰明小学校を臨む風景は東京の代表的な水辺の景観でした。
The location of Harumi Street across the outer moat, and the scenery overlooking the Nichigeki and Asahi Shimbun offices on the north side, and the Ginza Toshiba Building and Taimei Elementary School on the south side, was a typical waterfront scenery in Tokyo.
しかし、1958年（昭和33年）に外堀が埋められ、東京高速道路の建設に伴い取り壊されました。
However, in 1958 (Showa 33), the outer moat was filled in and demolished with the construction of the Tokyo Expressway.
その後、晴海通りを跨ぐ高速道路の橋は「新数寄屋橋」と名付けられました。
Later, the bridge on the expressway that crosses Harumi Street was named “Shin Sukiyabashi”.
現在、数寄屋橋公園には橋の存在を示す碑が立ち、周辺の建物にも数寄屋橋の名前が付けられています。
Today, there is a monument in Sukiyabashi Park that indicates the existence of the bridge, and the surrounding buildings are also named after Sukiyabashi.
