This is to widely inform the residents and visitors of Toshima City of the SDGs initiatives being promoted.

The installed symbol is
高さ2.3mで三角柱の形をしております。
It is 2.3 m high and has a triangular prism shape.
各板面には「としまSDGs都市宣言」「国際アート・カルチャー都市」「セーフコミュニティ国際認証都市」について掲載しています。
On each board, “Toshima SDGs City Declaration”, “International City of Art and Culture”, and “Safe Community International Certified City” are posted.

発信力をより高めるために、シンボルの足元にはSDGsのロゴマークを模したモザイクアートを施しました。
In order to further enhance the power of communication, the foot of the symbol is decorated with mosaic art that imitates the logo of the SDGs.
さらにモザイクアートの周りにはライン照明を整備し、夜にはSDGsの17色でライトアップを行います。
In addition, line lighting will be installed around the mosaic art, and it will be lit up at night with 17 colors of the SDGs.

When you hear Ikebukuro,
「遊びにいくところ」というイメージが大きいかもしれませんが、交通の便も良く、ご家族で暮らしている方も増えています。
It may have a large image of “a place to go to play”, but the transportation is convenient and the number of people living with their families is increasing.
そのため、小さなお子さんが休日に遊べる公園も駅周辺にたくさんあります！

そのような公園を活用して、国際交流イベントが行われたり、地域の方との交流の場としてのマルシェを開催したりしています。

少し言葉が難しいと思う方もいらっしゃるかもしれません。
でも、意外と身近なところで、SDGsに関連する活動が行われていたり、SDGsに取り組んでいる方々がいたりします。
最近は街中を歩いていても、SDGsに関する広告などを目にする機会が増えたように感じます。
私も電車に乗っていると、SDGsに関する広告を目にすることが多くあります。

そもそもSDGsとは何なのか？
What are the SDGs in the first place?
つまりSDGsとは、世界中で起きている環境問題や人権問題、差別や貧困といった社会問題の解決に向けての活動全般のことを指しています。
In other words, the SDGs refer to all activities aimed at solving social problems such as environmental problems, human rights issues, discrimination, and poverty that are occurring around the world.
