国宝の弥勒菩薩半跏像を所蔵しており、聖徳太子信仰の寺でもあります。毎年10月12日に行われる牛祭は京都三大奇祭として知られていますが、現在は不定期開催となっています。

広隆寺と言えば国宝の木造弥勒菩薩半跏像が有名ですが、他にも素晴らしい仏さまがいらっしゃいますので、じっくりと時間をかけてお参りなさってください。

もう１体の木造弥勒菩薩半跏像、木造阿弥陀如来坐像、木造不空羂索観音立像、木造千手観音立像、木造十二神将立像が国宝に指定されています。中でも木造不空羂索観音立像は像高が313.6センチメートルある迫力あるお姿で、見上げると心が洗われる気がします。

梅津段町を上がって行くと突き当たりに見えてくるのが広隆寺で、広隆寺を見ると太秦に帰って来たんだな、と思う太秦のシンボル的なお寺です！

歴史が古く有名な寺院の割に、観光客は少なく空いている事が多いです。お目当ては勿論、霊宝殿の弥勒菩薩像です。雨の日は地面がぬかるんで歩き難くなる場所があるので注意です。

Although it is a famous temple with a long history, there are few tourists and it is often empty. Of course, the target is the statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva in the Linghou Hall. Please note that on rainy days, the ground may become muddy and difficult to walk.
