白雲（しらくも）神社は、1224年に西園寺（さいおんじ）公経が北山殿（現在の金閣寺の地）造営の際に建立した妙音堂（みょうおんどう）に由来します。祭神は市杵島姫命（いちきしまひめ‐の‐みこと）で、音楽の神様として信仰されています。
The Shirakumo Shrine is derived from the Myōondo Temple, which was built in 1224 by Saionji Kōkyō when he built the Kitazanden Hall (the site of the present Kinkakuji Temple). The deity of the festival is Ichikishima Hime, who is worshipped as the god of music.
この神社は、旧西園寺（さいおんじ）家の鎮守社であり、音楽や芸術に関心のある方々にとって特に魅力的な場所です。例祭は毎年6月15日に行われ、お火焚（ほたき）祭は11月10日に執行されます。
It is the shrine of the former Saionji family and is a particularly attractive place for those interested in music and art. The annual festival is held on June 15 every year, and the fire-burning festival is held on November 10.
