川端通丸太町の歴史については、Wikipediaによると、江戸時代には「川端町」と呼ばれていたそうです。また、この通り沿いには材木商が多かったため、「丸太町」という名前がついたとされています。
As for the history of Kawabatadori Marutamachi, according to Wikipedia, it was called “Kawabata-cho” in the Edo period. In addition, there were many lumber merchants along this street, so it is said that the name “Log Town” was given.
1708年の宝永の大火の後、公家町が丸太町通に接する範囲まで拡張されたため、現代では京都御苑の南端が丸太町通となっています。
After the Great Fire of Honaga in 1708, the town was expanded to the extent that it bordered Marutamachi-dori, so that the southern end of Kyoto Gyoen National Garden is now Marutamachi-dori.
