賀陽宮は、孝明天皇を補佐し、尊王攘夷を嫌う天皇の意思を汲み、長州派の公卿と長州藩を朝廷から追放する役割を果たしました。

京都御苑の「賀陽宮邸跡」そしてその庭に榧の巨木があったことから「賀陽宮」と称したらしい。源氏物語の舞台になった邸宅跡が空想できるロマンチックな場所。

It is said that it was called “Kaya no Miya” because of the “ruins of Kaya Miya Mansion” in Kyoto Gyoen and the huge maki tree in the garden. A romantic place where you can fantasize about the ruins of the mansion where The Tale of Genji is set.

植物も多い。梅、桃、桜は見栄えがする。九門五口の出入口があり、出入自由。駐車場も烏丸、寺町側に備えている。砂利を踏みしめる音をたてながらの散策は気持ちがいい時間。

There are also many plants. Plums, peaches and cherry trees look great. There are nine gates and five entrances and exits, and you can enter and exit freely. There is also a parking lot on the Karasuma and Teramachi sides. It is a pleasant time to take a walk while making the sound of stepping on gravel.

整備が進んでいるお蔭で問題なく中をみて回ることができました。広く、地元の方にとっては公園や通り道として使われています。砂利は深く歩きにくいので、歩きやすい靴でお出かけになるのが良いと思います。

Thanks to the progress of maintenance, I was able to look around the inside without any problems. It is large and is used as a park and a path for locals. The gravel is deep and difficult to walk on, so it is better to go out in comfortable shoes.
