松風天満宮は、京都市東山区にある知恩院の塔頭（たっちょう）で、松宿院（しょうしゅくいん）とも呼ばれています。

Shofu Tenmangu Shrine is the head of the Chion-in temple in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, and is also known as Shoshukuin.

この小さな神社／寺院は、学問や技芸の向上、家門繁栄、諸縁円満、諸願成就の社として知られています。

This small shrine/temple is known as a shrine of learning and skill improvement, family prosperity, harmony of marriage, and fulfillment of wishes.

その歴史は寛永の頃に遡り、第32世の松風霊巌大僧正（れいがん だいそうじょう）が、西行法師（さいぎょう ほうし）が感得した天神尊像を安置祈願したことから始まりました。松風天満宮は、知恩院の塔頭であり、神仏習合（しんぶつしゅうごう）の場でもあります。

Its history dates back to the time of Kanei, when the 32nd Matsukaze Reigan Daisō prayed for the enshrinement of the statue of the Tenjin that Saigyō Hoshi had sensed. Matsukaze Tenmangu is the head of the Chion-in temple and is also a place for Shinbutsu Shugo.

境内には黄色い陶器製の狛犬があり、京都府下で一番恐ろしい面構えと言われています。この狛犬は、龍谷大学教授・小寺慶昭先生の著書「京都狛犬巡り」でも紹介され、知名度が上がっています。陶器製で山吹色（やまぶきいろ）のうわぐすりがかけられており、正面から見ればもっと怖い形相をしていることでしょう。

There is a yellow porcelain koinu in the temple grounds, which is said to be the most terrifying posture in Kyoto Prefecture. This koinu was introduced in the book “Kyoto Komainu Tour” by Professor Yoshiaki Kodera, a professor at Ryukoku University, and its name recognition is increasing. It is made of pottery and covered with Yamabukiiro suspicion, and it will have a scarier appearance if you look at it from the front.

松風天満宮は、京都市東山区の新橋通り大和大路東入ル3丁目林下町406にあり、市バス「知恩院前」から徒歩2分でアクセスできます。境内は広くないですが、鳥居や松などの植栽が並んでいます。訪れる際は、この怖い顔をした狛犬にも注目してみてくださいね！🦁🍁

Matsukaze Tenmangu Shrine is located at 406 Hayashishita-cho, 3-chome, Yamato-oji, Higashi-iriru, Yamato-oji, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, and can be reached by a 2-minute walk from the city bus “Chion-in-mae”. The precincts are not large, but they are lined with torii gates and pine trees. When you visit, be sure to keep an eye out for this scary-looking komaninu!

知恩院につながる華頂道の西の端、知恩院古門近くにある知恩院塔頭（たっちょう）です。中には入れませんでしたが、柵越しに鳥居と社殿が見ることができました。鳥居の前には松の木が立っていて、境内はきれいにされている様子がうかがえました。

It is located at the western end of the Huacho Road leading to Chion-in, near the ancient gate of Chion-in. I couldn’t go inside, but I could see the torii gate and the shrine through the fence. There was a pine tree standing in front of the torii gate, and I could see that the precincts were cleaned.

松風天満宮は知恩院の塔頭（たっちょう）です。知恩院の黒門前にのびる華頂通りを下って古門の手前、右側にあります。松宿院（しょうしゅくいん）とも呼ばれます。山門前に読みやすい説明板があります。

Matsukaze Tenmangu is the head of the tower of Chion-in. It is located on the right side of the old gate in front of the old gate down the Kacho Street that extends in front of the black gate of Chion-in. It is also called Shoshukuin. There is an easy-to-read explanation board in front of the mountain gate.

柵があるので外から拝見したのみです。説明板が大きいので前を通ったら寄っていく人が多いかも？と思いました。こちらには京都一怖い顔といわれる黄色い狛犬が鎮座しています。 

There is a fence, so I only saw it from the outside. The explanation board is large, so if you pass in front of it, many people may stop by. I thought. Here sits a yellow komaninu, which is said to be the scariest face in Kyoto. 

狛犬が京都で一番怖い顔をしているという評を聞きいってみました。基本的にはいつでも門が閉じてある天満宮で、入りたい人は拝観時間内にセルフで入るスタイル。正直、入りやすい場所ではないのですが、静かな雰囲気でよかったです。

I listened to the comment that the komainu has the scariest face in Kyoto. Basically, the gate is closed at any time, and those who want to enter can enter by themselves during the visiting hours. To be honest, it’s not an easy place to enter, but it was nice to have a quiet atmosphere.
