あおくすの庭は、京都府京都市東山区粟田口三条坊町に位置しています。この庭は青蓮院（しょうれんいん）門跡の北側にあり、歴史的風土清水特別保存地区に属しています。
Aokusu no Niwa is located in Awataguchi Sanjobocho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto-shi, Kyoto, Japan. This garden is located on the north side of the Shoren-in Gate Ruins and belongs to the Historic Landscape Shimizu Special Preservation District.
青蓮院（しょうれんいん）門跡は奈良時代後期の788年（延暦7年）に天台宗の開祖である伝教大師・最澄が比叡山に延暦寺を創建した際、比叡山東塔の南谷に建てた僧侶の住坊のひとつである青蓮坊が起源とされています。
The ruins of the Shoren-in Gate are said to have originated from Seirenbo, one of the monks’ abodes built in the south valley of the East Tower of Mt. Hiei in the late Nara period, when Denkyo Daishi Saicho, the founder of the Tendai sect, founded Enryakuji Temple on Mt. Hiei.
ちなみに青蓮院（しょうれんいん）門跡にはクスノキの巨木が5本植えられていることで知られ、あおくすの庭の名称はそれに由来しているのかもしれません。
By the way, it is known that five huge camphor trees are planted in the ruins of the Shoren-in Gate, and the name of the garden may be derived from that.

この美しい庭園では、八重紅枝垂桜（ヤエベニシダレザクラ）が見どころの一つです。桜は例年4月上旬頃に見ごろを迎え、訪れる人々を魅了しています。あおくすの庭からは平安神宮へ向かう散策ルートもあり、京都観光を楽しむことができます。
One of the highlights of this beautiful garden is the Yaebenishidarezakura. The cherry blossoms are usually in full bloom around the beginning of April and attract visitors. There is also a walking route from the garden to Heian Jingu Shrine, where you can enjoy sightseeing in Kyoto.

粟田口あおくすの庭は、青蓮院（しょうれんいん）門跡に北にある公園で、神宮道に面して鉄柵で仕切られ、扉は開かれています。しだれ桜などの樹木があるのが特徴です。
The Awataguchi Aokusu no Niwa is a park located north of the ruins of the Shoren-in Gate, and is separated by an iron fence facing Jingu Road, and the door is open. It is characterized by the presence of trees such as weeping cherry blossoms.
京都市営地下鉄東西線東山駅から東に5分強の場所にあります。公園の周りは寺社がいくつもあります。その中でこの公園はふと休憩などで立ち寄れる場所です。緑豊かですが一番は桜の頃です。
It is located a little over 5 minutes east of Higashiyama Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Tozai Line. There are a number of temples and shrines around the park. Among them, this park is a place where you can stop by for a break. It’s lush, but it’s best around the time of the cherry blossoms.
最初に訪ねたのは南禅寺。予定通り順調に拝観したので、次に知恩院を目的地に定めて徒歩移動。三条通りから神宮道へ入り、そろそろ青蓮院（しょうれんいん）門跡？というあたりで、左の空き地からいきなり人が出てきてびっくり。そこが「あおくすの庭」でした。美しいしだれ桜で有名な「公園」だそうです。
The first temple I visited was Nanzenji Temple. The visit went smoothly as planned, so we decided to set Chion-in as our destination and moved on foot. Enter Jingu Road from Sanjo Street, and it’s time to go to the Shorenin Gate Ruins? At that point, I was surprised to see a person suddenly come out of the vacant lot on the left. That was the “Garden of Aokusu”. It is said that it is a “park” famous for its beautiful weeping cherry blossoms.
