道修町三丁目の「道修町」という名前の由来については、江戸時代初期に北山道修という薬学者がいたことにちなむとする説や、このあたりに「道修寺」という寺院があったからとする説などがあります。また、江戸時代中頃まで上町台地と洲島との谷間にあたる道修町一丁目周辺が「道修谷」と呼ばれていたことに由来するという説もあります。
