大隈重信（おおくましげのぶ）は、明治時代から昭和初期にかけて、政治家として活躍し、日本の近代化に貢献しました。大隈重信は、佐賀藩士の家に生まれ、藩校弘道館で学びました。その後、オランダの憲法を学び、蘭学寮を合併した弘道館教授に着任しました。
Okuma Shigenobu was active as a politician from the Meiji period to the early Showa period, contributing to the modernization of Japan. Okuma Shigenobu was born into a family of Saga clan members and studied at the domain school Kodokan. After that, he studied the Dutch constitution and became a professor at Kodokan, which merged the Dutch dormitory.
明治維新後は、参議や大蔵卿、内閣総理大臣などの要職を務め、日本の財政や外交にすぐれた手腕を発揮しました。また、早稲田大学を創設し官学に匹敵する高等教育機関を育成するために力を注ぎます。

大隈重信旧宅は、佐賀県佐賀市に存在する大隈重信の旧宅で、現在は国の史跡に指定されています。庭園には、葬儀委員長を務めた波多野敬直の筆による「大隈重信公誕生地」の記念碑が建っています。
The former residence of Okuma Shigenobu is the former residence of Okuma Shigenobu located in Saga City, Saga Prefecture, and is now designated as a national historic site. 天保9年2月16日（1838年3月11日）大隈重信の誕生から東京へ移るまで過ごした生家が大隈重信旧宅として、佐賀市に現存（国の史跡に）。隣接して昭和42年に大隈重信誕生125年を記念して開館の大隈重信記念館が建っています。

大隈重信・誕生125年を記念して、昭和42年10月に開館。早稲田大学名誉教授今井兼次博士の手によるデザインで、大隈侯のどっしりして動かざる姿をイメージして建てられています。
To commemorate the 125th anniversary of Okuma Shigenobu’s birth, it opened in October of Showa 42. Designed by Dr. Kanetsugu Imai, professor emeritus of Waseda University, it was built in the image of the massive and immovable figure of Marquis Okuma.
2015年2月に内外装を一新してリニューアルオープンし、大隈侯の生きざまや功績を貴重な資料を添えて展示しています。
It was reopened in February 2015 with a completely new interior and exterior, and exhibits the life and achievements of Marquis Okuma with valuable materials.
大隈記念館の入場料については、入場料は大人330円、小中学生160円、団体（20名以上）大人220円、小中学生110円です。
