粟田口（あわたぐち）は、京都市東山区に位置する地名で、歴史的には重要な場所です。以下に詳細を説明します。
Awataguchi is a place name located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, and is a historically important place. The details are described below.
粟田口の歴史と位置
粟田口は、三条通（旧東海道）の白川橋から東、蹴上付近までの広範囲にわたる地名です。
奈良時代以前から開かれた土地で、粟田氏が本拠としていた地域でした。
平安京ができると、東国との交通の要地や軍事上の要衝となり、やがて「粟田口（三条口）」と呼ばれ、京都七口の一つに数えられました。
Awataguchi is a wide-ranging place name that extends from the Shirakawa Bridge on Sanjo-dori (formerly Tokaido) to the east and near Keage.
It was a land that had been opened since before the Nara period, and it was an area where Awada was headquartered.
When Heian-kyo was established, it became a key point of transportation and military importance with the eastern country, and eventually it was called “Awataguchi (Sanjo Guchi)” and was counted as one of the seven mouths of Kyoto.
粟田口の特徴
粟田口は、東海道、中山道、東山道、北陸道の4つの道に通じる軍事上の要衝でした。
室町時代には関銭が徴収され、鎌倉時代以降は刀匠（とうしょう 刀を作る職人）たちが住んでいたと言われています。
Awataguchi was a military stronghold that led to four roads: the Tokaido, Nakasendo, Higashiyamado, and Hokuriku Highway.
It is said that in the Muromachi period, sekisen was collected, and after the Kamakura period, sword masters (craftsmen who make swords) lived there.

青蓮院（しょうれんいん）門跡
青蓮院（しょうれんいん）は、天台宗の門跡寺院で、比叡山延暦寺の三門跡の一つとして知られています。華頂殿（かちょうでん）の庭園は、相阿弥（そうあみ）の作と伝えられ、60面にも渡って蓮の花が描かれています。また、粟田山を借景にした幽邃（ゆうすい）な池泉（いけいずみ）回遊式の庭も有名です。
Shoren-in is a temple of the Tendai sect and is known as one of the three gates of Mt. Hiei. The garden of Kachoden is said to have been the work of Soami, and has 60 lotus flowers painted on it. It is also famous for its ethereal pond spring garden with Mt. Awada as a borrowed scenery.

綺麗な写真がたくさん撮れるお寺です。お庭もとても美しくとても居心地が良くてゆっくりできます。地元の方々にとっても同様なのか、私がおじゃましたときには、OLさん2人組が縁側でずっと愚痴を言っていて、周りに聞こえていて不快でした。
It is a temple where you can take a lot of beautiful photos. The garden is also very beautiful and very cozy and you can relax. I wonder if it is the same for the locals, but when I was there, a couple of office ladies were complaining all the time on the porch, and it was uncomfortable to hear them around.
最後に「愚痴を言ってはいけない」みたいなことが書かれた掛け軸、つい立てがありましたので、本当にそのとおりだと、思いました。OLさん2人組にも気づきがあることを祈っています。
At the end, there was a hanging scroll with something like “Don’t complain,” so I thought it was really true. I hope that the office lady duo will also be aware.
現在の建物はすべて明治時代以降に再建されたものです。建物内から庭園をゆっくりと眺めることができます。また、庭園内を散策することもできます。本堂には青不動の複製が安置されています。境内の鐘を突くことができます。境内には大きなクスノキがおおくあります。神宮道沿いにある有名な大クスノキは枝が切られ残念な姿になっていました。
All of the current buildings were rebuilt after the Meiji era. You can take a leisurely view of the garden from inside the building. You can also take a stroll through the gardens. In the main hall, a replica of the blue immovable is enshrined. You can poke the bell in the temple grounds. There are many large camphor trees in the temple grounds. The famous large camphor tree along the Jingu Road had its branches cut off and had a disappointing appearance.
敷地そのものは多分そんなに広くないのですが、庭の作りからかとても奥行きを感じます。建物の中から庭を見るだけでは、一部分だけを切り取って整った庭だなという感想しか持ちませんが、庭の中を歩いて周るとかなり広がりを感じます。曲がりくねった道が庭のいろんな部分を切り取り、違う表情を見せてくれます。中と外で2度楽しめる寺院です。
The site itself is probably not that big, but I feel very deep because of the garden. If you just look at the garden from inside the building, you will only have the impression that it is a well-organized garden by cutting out only a part of it, but when you walk around the garden, you will feel that it is quite spacious. The winding paths cut through different parts of the garden and give it a different look. It is a temple that can be enjoyed twice inside and outside.
