本尊 地蔵菩薩: 金地院の本尊は地蔵菩薩です。
庭園「鶴亀の庭」: 小堀遠州作の枯山水庭園で、鶴と亀が木と石で表現されています。この庭は国の特別名勝に指定されています。
茶室「八窓席」: 小堀遠州の設計で建てられた三畳台目の茶室で、遠州好みの典型的な作例です。
東照宮: 徳川家康の遺言で建てられ、家康の遺髪と念持仏を祀っています。

金地院は、歴史的な背景と美しい庭園で訪れる価値がある寺院です。

蹴上駅1番出口を出て北に向かい、「ねじりまんぽ」と呼ばれる粟田口隧道（あわたぐち すいどう)を潜ると、金地院や南禅寺への近道となります。「ねじりまんぽ」を出てしばらく道なりに歩いていくと、左手に東照宮の楼門が現れます。ここは締め切りになっています。

If you take Exit 1 of Keage Station and head north, you can dive through the Awataguchi Suido, which is called “Nejiri Manpo”, which is a shortcut to Kinchi-in Temple and Nanzen-ji Temple. After leaving “Nejiri Manpo” and walking along the road for a while, you will see the tower gate of Toshogu Shrine on your left. There is a deadline here.

もう少し進むと金地院の拝観口があります。順路に沿って明智門を潜ると池泉（いけいずみ）回遊式の庭園に出ます。庭を鑑賞して奥に進み国の重要文化財、東照宮へ。この東照宮は家康公の遺言によるものだそうです。

If you go a little further, you will find the entrance of Kinchi-in. If you go through the Akechi Gate along the route, you will come to the garden of the Izumi Walking Garden. After admiring the garden, proceed to the back of the temple and go to Toshogu Shrine, an important cultural property of Japan. It is said that this Toshogu shrine was built in the will of Prince Ieyasu.

拝殿は漆塗りで重厚感があります。拝殿の天井には狩野探幽（かのう たんゆう）の筆になる「鳴龍」（なきりゅう）が描かれていて、の欄間には土佐光起画（とさ みつおき）「三十六歌仙」額が掲げられています。じっくりと鑑賞しました。東照宮右脇の石段を下りていくと開山堂です。

The worship hall is lacquered and has a profound feeling. On the ceiling of the worship hall is painted “Nakiryu”, which is the brush of Kanou Tanyu, and on the transom of Tosa Mitsuoki “Thirty-six Kasen” plaque is hung. I took my time to appreciate it. If you go down the stone steps on the right side of Toshogu Shrine, you will find the Kaizan Hall.

中央奥に崇伝の像を祀り、左右には十六羅漢像が安置されています。開山堂の前を右にとると、国の重要文化財本堂（方丈）と特別名勝の「鶴亀の庭」に出ます。「鶴亀の庭」は、江戸時代初期の枯山水庭園で、方丈から見て、右手に鶴、左手に亀が配されています。南禅寺に比べると参拝者が少ないのでゆっくり参拝できます。

A statue of Suden is enshrined in the back of the center, and 16 arhats are enshrined on the left and right. If you take the right in front of the temple, you will come to the main hall (Hojo), an important cultural property of Japan, and the “Tsuru Turtle Garden”, a special scenic spot. The “Tsuru Turtle Garden” is a dry landscape garden from the early Edo period, and from the perspective of the scale, a crane is arranged on the right and a turtle is placed on the left. Compared to Nanzenji Temple, there are fewer worshippers, so you can visit slowly.

「南禅寺」の方は、観光客で混雑していましたが、こちらはなぜか空いており、ゆっくり見学ができました。ガイドブックなのではあまり取り上げられていないせいもあるのかもしれまんせんが、「東照宮」と「鶴亀の庭」は必見だと思います（見学施設の範囲によって、さらに料金が必要になりますが、こちらはセットなので・・）。

“Nanzenji” was crowded with tourists, but for some reason it was empty and I was able to visit slowly. Maybe it’s because it’s a guidebook, so it’s not covered much, but I think “Toshogu” and “Tsuru Kame Garden” are must-sees (depending on the range of the tour facilities, you will need to pay more, but this is a set…).
