豊臣秀吉が朝鮮半島に出兵した際の史跡です。
It is a historical site when Toyotomi Hideyoshi sent troops to the Korean Peninsula.
朝鮮出兵の際（文禄・慶長の役/1592～1598）、戦功の証として首級の代わりに朝鮮軍の耳や鼻をそぎ、塩漬けにしたものを秀吉のもとに送っていたとされています。
It is said that when he was sent to Korea (Bunroku / Keicho / 1592 ~ 1598), as a proof of his military merit, he shaved off the ears and noses of the Korean army instead of the head and salted them and sent them to Hideyoshi.

秀吉が耳塚（みみ づか）を築いたのは1597年で、400人もの僧侶を呼び供養の儀が行われたと言われています。耳塚（みみ づか）は「方広寺石塁および石塔」の史跡群の一部として文化財に指定されています。
It is said that Hideyoshi built Mizuzuka in 1597, and that as many as 400 monks were invited to make a memorial offering. Mimizuka is designated as a cultural property as part of the historical sites of “Hokoji Stone Mound and Stone Pagoda”.
耳塚（みみ づか）の場所とアクセス方法
京都市東山区の正面通りに位置しています。
最寄り駅は七条駅もしくは清水五条駅です。
周囲には京都国立博物館や三十三間堂があり、徒歩でアクセスできます。
耳塚（みみ づか）の周辺スポット
豊国神社（とよくに じんじゃ）: 耳塚から100メートルほど進んだところにあり、豊臣秀吉公が祀られています。境内には桃山時代の唐門が国宝に指定されています。
方広寺（ほうこうじ）: 豊国神社に隣接している天台宗のお寺で、豊臣秀吉が造営した大仏殿跡と大坂冬の陣のきっかけとなった梵鐘が残っています。
耳塚（みみ づか）は歴史的な背景を持つ場所であり、訪れる価値があるスポットです。京都へ行く際にぜひ足を延ばしてみてください。

耳塚（みみ づか）は、豊国神社から大和大路通りを挟んで西にある耳塚公園の西隣にありました。説明板には、「耳塚（みみ づか）」と書かれており、豊臣秀吉が朝鮮出兵の際に、戦功のしるしの首級の代わりに耳や鼻をそぎ、塩漬けにして持ち帰らせたものを供養したのが始まりとのことです。
Mizuzuka was located next to the west of Otozuka Park, across Yamato-Oji Street from Toyokuni Shrine. The explanation board says “Mimizuka”, and it is said that it began when Toyotomi Hideyoshi made an offering to Korea by cutting off his ears and nose instead of the head class as a sign of war merit, salting it and having it taken home.
豊臣秀吉の朝鮮出兵の際の耳塚。豊臣秀吉の豊国神社から歩いてすぐの場所の住宅街の真ん中にあります。耳塚（みみ づか）の傍らにきちんと碑もあるので、説明として読むことが出来ます。歴史的な経緯で、ここに来るのは韓国系の方が多いです。
Ear mounds during Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s departure to Korea. It is located in the middle of a residential area, a short walk from Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s Toyokuni Shrine. There is also a monument next to Mimizuka, so you can read it as an explanation. Due to historical circumstances, many people of Korean descent come here.
京都の街を歩いていて、大きな遺跡のようなものがあって『これはなんだろう？』となんとなく見ていると、耳塚（みみ づか）という文字がでてきてびっくりしました。こんな街中にあるとは。たぶん、近くを何度か通っていたと思うのですが、説明文を読むまで気づきませんでした。
When I was walking around the streets of Kyoto, I saw what looked like a large ruin, and when I was looking at it and wondering, “What is this?”, I was surprised to see the word “Mizuka”. I didn’t know it was in such a city. I think I probably passed by it a few times, but I didn’t notice it until I read the description.
