浄土宗のお寺で、京都市東山区清水4-161に位置しています。
It is a temple of the Jodo sect and is located at 4-161 Shimizu, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto.
当初は山科東野村にあって「空也（くうや）寺」と呼ばれていましたが、大雲院（だいうん-いん）九世高誉（ここせ-とうよ）上人により再興され、1749年から現在の場所にあります。
Originally located in Yamashina Higashino Village and called “Kuya Temple”, it was rebuilt by Daiun-in 9th generation Kokose Toyo Shonin and has been in its current location since 1749.

境内には空也（くうや）上人の墓もあります。東山通りから清水道を登って行くと、「西光寺」の門柱が立っています。
There is also a tomb of Kuya Shonin in the temple grounds. If you go up the Kiyomizu Road from Higashiyama Street, you will see the gatepost of “Saikoji Temple”.
境内は貸駐車場になっており、石畳の参道に沿って進むと、空也（くうや）上人のお墓や石塔が見えます。本堂は奥にありますが、プライベートエリアに入ることはできません。
The precincts are a rental parking lot, and if you follow the stone-paved approach, you can see the tomb of Kuya Shonin and the stone pagoda. The main hall is located in the back, but you cannot enter the private area.
また、お迎えの猫たちもいるようです。興味深い場所ですね！😸🏯🌸
It seems that there are also cats to pick up. It’s an interesting place!

西光寺周辺には、いくつもの大きな神社・仏閣があります。どこも見ごたえがあり、歴史を重ねていて風格があります。この西光寺の前を初めて通りました。
There are a number of large shrines and temples around Saikoji Temple. Everywhere is spectacular, has a lot of history, and is stately. It was the first time I passed in front of this Saikoji Temple.
周りは民家で、このお寺を囲んでいるように見えましたが、反対に西光寺周辺が住宅街と化したのだと思います。門から見える建物は神社のようにも見えました。
It looked like it surrounded this temple with private houses, but on the contrary, I think the area around Saikoji Temple has become a residential area. The building that could be seen from the gate looked like a shrine.
