Saifukuji
京都市東山区轆轤町（ろくろちよう）にある浄土宗の寺院です。
It is a temple of the Jodo sect located in Rokurochiyo, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto.
この寺は嵯峨天皇の御代、弘法大師が地蔵堂を建立し、自作の土づくりの地蔵尊を安置したことから始まったとされています。
This temple is said to have started when Emperor Saga’s reign, Kobo Daishi, built the Jizo Hall and enshrined the Jizo Temple, which was made of his own clay.
本尊は阿弥陀如来で、境内には「子育地蔵」が鎮座しています。この地蔵は子供の健康や病気平癒に効くとされています。
The main shrine is Amitabha, and in the precincts of the temple is the “Kosodate Jizo”. This jizo is said to be effective for children’s health and healing of illnesses.

西福寺（さいふくじ）は歴史的な背景を持ち、平安時代の貞観（じょうがん）年間（859年 – 876年）に空海が自作の土仏（つち‐ぼとけ）地蔵尊を「六道の辻」に建立した地蔵堂に祀ったことから始まりました。
Saifukuji Temple has a historical background, and began in the Heian period (859-876) when Kukai enshrined his own clay Buddha (Tsuchi-Botoke) Jizozon in the Jizo-do Hall built in the “Six Paths of Tsuji”.
その後、関ヶ原の戦い後に処刑された安国寺恵瓊（あんこくじ えけい）の菩提を弔うため、毛利家家臣の井上安芸守（いのうえ あきのかみ）が蓮性（はす）和尚を開山として招き、地蔵堂の周りに新たに堂宇を建立して寺院化し、寺名を桂光山（かつら みつやま）敬信院（けいしん いん）と改めました。
Later, in order to mourn the bodhi of Ankokuji Ekei, who was executed after the Battle of Sekigahara, Inoue Akimori, a vassal of the Mori family, invited Kazuhisa Hasu to open the mountain, built a new temple around the Jizo-do, turned it into a temple, and changed the name of the temple to Katsura Mitsuyama Keishin-in.
その後、衰微してしまったものの、延宝6年（1678年）に念願が復興させ、享保12年（1727年）に関白 二条綱平（にじょう つなひら）が父の九条兼晴（くじょう かねはる）の菩提を弔うために再興し、名称を西福寺（さいふくじ）に改めました。
After that, although it declined, it was revived in the 6th year of Enpo (1678), and in the 12th year of Kyoho (1727), Nijo Tsunahira of Sekihaku revived it to mourn the bodhi of his father, Kujo Kaneharu, and changed the name to Saifukuji.

西福寺（さいふくじ）の境内には本堂、庫裏、不動堂、地蔵堂があります。特に「子育地蔵」は子供の健康を祈願する場所として知られています。また、山門（さんもん）の向かいでは名物の幽霊（ゆうれい）子育飴（こそだて あめ）が売られているそうです。
Within the precincts of Saifukuji Temple, there is the main hall, the back of the storehouse, the Fudodo hall, and the Jizodo hall. In particular, “Koiku Jizo” is known as a place to pray for the health of children. Also, across the street from the mountain gate (Mr./Ms.), the famous ghost candy is sold.
アクセス方法として、市バス「五条坂」から徒歩約9分、京阪電車「七条駅」から徒歩約10分で行くことができます。 京都市観光の際に立ち寄ってみてはいかがでしょうか？
As for how to get there, it is about a 9-minute walk from the city bus “Gojozaka” and about a 10-minute walk from the Keihan Railway “Shichijo Station”. Why don’t you stop by when sightseeing in Kyoto City?

京都最大の人気スポット清水寺へは一念坂・二年坂・三年坂そして清水坂から清水寺へと訪れる観光客が多いのですが、元もとは松原通から清水坂への道が参道と言われています。なので帰路は清水坂から松原通を歩くことにしました。
Many tourists visit Kiyomizu-dera, the most popular spot in Kyoto, from Iknenzaka, Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Kiyomizuzaka to Kiyomizu-dera, but it is said that the road from Matsubara-dori to Kiyomizu-zaka was originally the approach. そして、この西福寺（さいふくじ）は松原通六道の辻にあります。西福寺（さいふくじ）は弘法大師（空海）が作った地蔵尊を安置され、嵯峨天皇の皇后橘嘉智子（たちばな かちこ）が仁明（にんみょう）天皇の病気平癒を祈願したことから、子育て地蔵として信仰されるようになった。とのことです。
This Saifukuji Temple is located at the foot of Matsubara-dori Rokudo. Saifukuji Temple was enshrined in the Jizo Shrine created by Kobo Daishi (Kukai), and Emperor Saga’s Empress Kachiko Tachibana prayed for the healing of Emperor Nimei’s illness, so it came to be worshipped as a child-rearing jizo. It is said.
