Yakuonji

京都府八幡市にある浄土宗のお寺です。この古刹は天平時代の僧行基（667～749）によって開創され、本尊は吉祥薬師如来（きっしょう やくしにょらい）平安時代造像・国指定重要文化財です。

It is a temple of the Pure Land sect in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture. This ancient temple was founded by the monk Gyoki (667~749) of the Tenpei period, and the main statue is a statue of the Heian period of the auspicious Yakushi Nyorai and is a nationally designated important cultural property.

日光・月光菩薩および十二神将も完全な姿で修復されています。開創以来約1300年の歴史を持ち、幾度かの興廃を繰り返し、平成15年3月15日現在の堂宇（どうう）に復興されました。

The Bodhisattvas of Sunlight and Moonlight and the Twelve Divine Generals have also been fully restored. It has a history of about 1,300 years since its opening, has repeatedly risen and fallen several times, and has been restored to the current Dou as of March 15, Heisei 15.

薬薗寺（やくおんじ）では毎月8日に薬師如来の縁日に写経会を開催しています。午前10時から午後3時までの間、予約不要でどなたでも参加できます。

At Yakuonji, a sutra copying session is held on the 8th of every month on the day of Yakushi Nyorai. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., anyone can join without reservation.

写経会では般若心経を一巻写すことができ、志納料（しのうきん）は千円です。また、薬薗寺（やくおんじ）は木津川沿いに位置しており、永代供養や納骨堂も随時受付中です。

At the Sutra Copying Society, you can copy a volume of the Heart Sutra, and the fee is 1,000 yen. In addition, Yakuonji Temple is located along the Kizu River, and perpetual memorial services and ossuaries are also available at any time.

Useful information

木津川の近くにある由緒あるお寺です。奈良時代の僧侶、行基（ぎょうき）が開創したといわれています。拝観をすることはできませんでしたが、平安時代前期の作といわれる、重要文化財の薬師如来立像が収められています。

It is a venerable temple located near the Kizu River. It is said to have been founded by the Nara period monk Gyoki. I was not able to see it, but it contains a statue of Yakushi Nyorai, an important cultural property, which is said to be a work of the early Heian period.

石清水八幡宮駅から徒歩15分ほど、重要文化財の「薬師如来立像」を有するお寺ですが、残念ながら「拝観謝絶」の文字があったので、外から雰囲気を楽しむことしかできませんでした。

About a 15-minute walk from Iwashimizu Hachimangu Station, it is a temple with an important cultural property “Yakushi Nyorai Statue”, but unfortunately there was a word “Sorry for visiting”, so I could only enjoy the atmosphere from the outside.
